Frank Giardina Bio

Frank Giardina is a nutrition specialist and personal trainer for over 25 years. After obtaining a Master's Degree in nutrition, Frank was one of the owners of Gold's Gym for over 20 years and was a competitive bodybuilder in the 80’s and 90’s.

Frank’s passion for nutrition and his desire to help people achieve their best has been an inspirational catalyst to countless people. Frank is noted as nutritionist and trainer to many “A” list celebrities and professional athletes. Recently, Frank oversaw the nutrition for Bill Engvall and his cast and crew for his show on TBS.

Frank believes that attaining body-sculpting goal is to lose fat and retain muscles. In order to achieve that objective, changing eating habits is essential. With the right amount of calories, fats and proteins, individuals will start seeing improvement that is 90% of the results.

Understanding Your Metabolism


How many times have you heard comments about increasing metabolism, or that your metabolism may be too slow? So what is metabolism and how does it affect your weight control?

Metabolism is you body's energy burn rate, or how many calories your burn, we will refer to calories burned as Energy Out. The amount of calories consumed through food consumption will be referred to as Energy In.

The ideal scenario is where the Energy Out is greater than Energy In. This means that the body is functioning at a caloric deficit and will result in weight loss since the body will resort to burning stored body fat as fuel in the absence of food.

To increase metabolism, include resistance exercises in your regular exercise program to maintain and increase lean muscle tissue. One pound of muscle is capable of burning as much as 35 calories per day while one pound of fat burns none.

When I finally made the decision to lose weight in August of 2009 I had reached 209 pounds.  The heaviest I had ever weighed.  I wasn’t sleeping well, I had no energy and, in general, I felt like a beached whale.  However, born out of my self loathing was a strong determination to do something about it.  But I didn’t just want to lose the weight.  I wanted to be fit, sculpt my body rather than just be thin.  Often I would see people who had lost large amounts of weight look worse than before they went on a diet.  Their faces drawn and the skin just hanging from their bodies.  I didn’t want to look like that.  So I sought the help of a personal trainer to teach me how to build muscle and sculpt my body but more importantly he gave me the best advice of my life.  He told me that no matter how hard I work at the gym, it doesn’t mean a thing without proper nutrition.  No truer words have ever been spoken and that’s when I met Frank Giardina.  Frank put together a meal plan specifically designed for me then proceeded to sit me down and lay it all out.  He told me I would soon be sleeping better, have more energy than ever before, lose weight and retain muscle.  Needless to say I was skeptical but decided to stick with it…and ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING he told me that fateful day came true.  Each month I lost an average of 10 pounds going from a size 16 to a size 4, I slept like a baby and I was bouncing off the walls with energy and accomplishing more in a day than I thought possible.  I learned so much from Frank because he was with me every step of the way to guide me and answer my questions.  He understood my goals and gave me the roadmap to achieve it.  Now I have the best body of my life and I owe it all to him.  So many people think that exercise alone is all they need to reach their goals and they couldn’t be more wrong.  Proper nutrition is key and Frank’s plan is what will get you where you want to be.  Trust in it, follow it, stick to it and before you know it you’ll have the best body of your life.  I know I do!
